Very nice hotel with awesome rooms and spa. Food is also high quality, although, honestly speaking, the Italian restaurant does not meet the expectation that the hotel restaurant would set. I have given 4 stars instead of 5, because we had a little "misunderstanding" at the check-out, where, when trying to explain that we had a voucher, the reception manager (or whatever role she had) tried to insist that the overall amount didn't include this voucher. It is very sad, because all the other personnel were extremely polite and professional.
The view from our room was amazing!
Totally recommend this hotel for a weekend getaway. We couldn’t try the wellness area but it looked great, you can see the mountains from the pool.
The breakfast buffet was big and with a lot of options.
One of my favorite getaways is now a TRIBUTE PORTFOLIO HOTEL! After the Arabella Alpenhotel left Sheraton many years ago, it’s now back under Marriott. This week‘s transition to Bonvoy (12/12/23) went very smooth from what I saw. Even got an upgrade for Elite Status (previously next to impossible at the property).
The service improved again post pandemic and so did the food (largely good, sometimes exceptional). The „Verwöhnpension“ (light lunch and cake at 2:30pm - only on Saturdays when you book half-board) is wonderful.
If you are lucky and/or quick, you can get free parking next to the hotel (uncovered). Better yet, reach the hotel stress free and sustainably by train and quick bus ride (stops next to hotel) from Munich central (80min).
Rooms in the main building (estate) put a contemporary spin on regional design. The Seehof building (Lake House) still has the 90‘s Charme and could do with an upgrade. Up to now, the first filling of the mini bar is included.
The Spa is great, albeit not exactly in mint condition anymore. The salt water pool is warm (89F/32C) and great for a relaxed float and for kids to play in (no kids allowed 12:30-3pm). The Sauna area boasts 3 Saunas (140F/60C , 176F/80C, 194F/90C) and is only for adults (16+). In German tradition, it is fully nude and mixed gender. Not bathing attire allowed. There is also a nice and hot steam room and a quiet zone with beds. The Sauna area is open from 12min till 8pm (both top early for my taste).
There is a lobby bar that is rarely very busy at night. Ironically, the best espresso machine of the venue is located here (in service in the evenings). For a local dance experience, head to the „Spinradel“ club up the road. Be ready for some heavy drinking, lots of youth, possibly odd sounding German pop music.
Overall, Spitzingsee is fantastic - an absolute jewel. The Arabella Alpenhotel is its hospitality centerpiece. The lake is beautiful- you can swim in the summer. Lots of great day tours for all levels. Rental e-bikes for those that need them.
Fingers cross that Marriott / Tribute / Bonvoy build on what the Arabella Alpenhotel is (instead of streamlining it to the point where it loses that special vibe that had me coming back regularly for the past 25 years).
Fantastic location right by the lake and good hiking routes. The facilities were fantastic and the breakfast was great as well. Prices were a tad on the higher side, but definitely a great place to stay!
Story book beautiful! My room was spacious and the deck overlooked the beautiful lake. Wonderful wellness center with saunas, radiant heat chairs, infinity pool and steam room. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Perfect location at Spitzensee! With access to the lake, it’s a perfect and chill place to spend a night. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but delicious food. Breakfast is amazing!
Would love to book, unfortunately I can't reach anybody. Tried email, tried contact form, tried other staff members with a different email addresses. Can't call as I'm overseas. If I don't find another place in a mean time, I will update …
Very nice hotel beside an amazingly beautiful lake near by Munich. Fully facilitated ( except elevator that not a big deal with only G+1 building. Nice sauna an swimming pull. Good food and welcoming, nice staff. Big and we'll decorated rooms, with working desk, mini bar dining table and seated bathtub-shower bathroom.
